Freeriding in Ischgl
Freeride action in Tyrol
Pristine powder descents in front of you, and fresh tracks behind you: Welcome to one of Europe’s biggest freeride areas! One of the top benefits of Ischgl’s Freeride Arena: Many lines are located in direct proximity to the groomed slopes. This means that you can skip the long ascent and make better use of your time.
All about freeriding in Ischgl
Ischgl offers two varied freeride areas: Piz Val Gronda at 2,812 metres above sea level and the Ravaischer Salaas area. Both areas offer freeriders plenty of opportunities to improve their technique or enjoy themselves off-piste.
Piz Val Gronda – ideal for leisure freeriders
The descent starts at the Piz Val Gronda mountain station (2,812 m) and takes you over wide slopes, gentle hollows and playful hilltops. The start is right next to the piste, making the route ideal for freeriders with some experience who want to improve their technique away from the groomed slopes.
During the descent, you can enjoy a fascinating panoramic view of the entire Fimbatal valley and the Hoher Riffler mountain. The route is varied but easy to control, and eventually leads back to the slope, which takes you comfortably back to the valley station.
Maximum slope angle: up to 30°
Elevation difference: approx. 400 metres
Requirements: Beginners to advanced learners
Ravaischer Salaas – for individualists
From the mountain station in Ravaischer Salaas, the route starts across wide slopes and through narrow gullies to the gorge that leads to the border with Samnaun in Switzerland. Along the way, you will even pass a waterfall, which makes the freeride experience particularly spectacular. The starting point can be chosen depending on your experience and ability.
During the descent, you must keep an eye out for changes in terrain, including steeper passages and narrow gullies, which are ideal for experienced freeriders. The route ends at the bottom of the Samnaun valley, from where you can easily return to the ski area.
