When cattle are herded from their alpine summer gazing pastures to the valley, the traditional cattle drive is celebrated in Ischgl. Local farmers from the Ischgl Alps of Pardatsch, Fimba, Gampen, Paznauner Taja, Madlein and Idalp decorate their cattle, horses, goats and sheep with magnificent
headdresses, garlands of flowers and ribbons, with bells attached to their heavy leather collars in thanks for an accident-free summer on the alpine pastures. Afterwards, there will be a festival in the hamlet of Paznaun with live music, entertainment, and culinary delights. You can expect Paznaun specialities, which only a few people in Paznaun still know how to prepare. These include Ziachkiachln (Tyrolean jam pastry) or Kaspressknodel (cheese dumplings) with the notorious Paznaun Alpine Cheese. Here you can experience the Paznaun up close.
