Stunning views - summer holiday in Tyrol

Viewing points in the mountains

Viderjoch 2.757 M

Particularly suitable for excursions with children since the Viderjoch is easy to get to via the Silvretta and Flimjochbahn cable cars. The Austria/Switzerland state border is located precisely at this point.

Stop-off tip: Restaurant Alpenhaus on the Idalp

Greitspitze 2.872 M

One of the highest points in the Silvretta Arena and accessible via the Silvretta and Flimjochbahn cable cars. You can get to the Greitspitze in around 45 minutes from the Flimjochbahn mountain station. Remember to immortalise yourself in the ‘summit book’.

Flimspitze – 2.928 M

The Flimspitze, almost 3000m above sea level, has one of the highest elevations in the Silvretta Arena. The panoramic view from the rocky, exposed summit is stunning! The cable car takes you up to the Idalp, then you head up on a trail on the left, following the information boards until the ‘Pardatschgrat-Flimjoch-Flimspitze-Flimjoch’ turn-off. This moderately difficult tour to the Flimspitze takes around 2 ½ hours.

Rauher Kopf 2.478 M

This is one of the viewing points in the mountains in Tyrol and is difficulty level ‘black’. At Mathon take the underpass on the main road at Gasthof Glöckner heading for Nederli, continuing then to Inneren Bergli - Äußeres Bergli - Rauher Kopf. Afterwards head back via Tschamatsch Kopf to Ischgl. Duration around 4.5 - 5 hours.

Stop-off tip: None – bring your own provisions with you.

Stop-off-tip: Restaurant Alpenhaus

In the middle of Tyrol’s Alps, here on the Idalp, the highest located gourmet centre in the Alps, you get to enjoy tasty regional treats and exquisite cuisine in an exclusive atmosphere. The Silvrettabahn takes you up to 2320m to the stylish Alpenhaus which has a traditional Alpine lodge atmosphere.

Once again this year the SB Restaurant will offer traditional tasty treats in the summer months, such as Tyrolean Gröstl and home-made Kaiserschmarrn. Food fresh from the barbecue and dishes which use Alpine cheese from this connoisseur region also feature.

Should the weather not be so clement the panoramic windows provide a dreamy view to the fantastic mountain scenery.
