Hiking routes Ischgl

Ischgl surprises with the variety of these panoramic but not very strenuous hikes. Summits, entertainment, culture and much more await the hikers.

The Greitspitz is the highest peak in the Silvretta ski arena at 2,871 m and offers impressive views into the distance of the Wildspitze 3,768 m or Ortler 3,905 m in good weather conditions. It is hard to believe that the summit cross of this peak, close to 3,000 m, can be reached in just 20 minutes. The Silvrettabahn and Fimbabahn cable cars lead up to the Idalp and from here the Flimjochbahn transports visitors up to the Idjoch. The border between Austria and Switzerland runs along here. After a short roped section, you will reach the summit cross at 2,871 m. The journey back leads along the same route. Please take note of the cable car operating times.

The Walk of Lyrics is a new part of the adventure trail from Ischgl to the Idalp and impresses with various stations by performers who have given concerts at the legendary Top of the Mountain concerts on the Idalp. Udo Jürgen, Rihanna and Sting take guests from the Fimba middle station along a newly laid path through the forest and across an impressive suspension bridge over the Kitzlochschlucht gorge. After an hour’s walk, you will find yourself back in Ischgl after your foray into the music industry.

The Schwarzwassersee & Pardatschersee lakes are just a few minutes’ walk from the Fimbabahn & Silvrettabahn cable cars and are surrounded by idyllic forests. The walk takes you past the Obere Pardatschkapelle chapel before you reach the Schwarzwassersee lake and behind it, the smaller Pardatschersee lake. Both lakes offer BBQ points, resting places and different action- and relax elements for an amazing day out. The circular path connects both lakes and is buggy-friendly.

This comfortable walk leads from the valley station of the Silvrettabahn cable car through the underpass and a short way into the valley. After crossing the bridge at the Silvretta car park, you will walk past the funpark and ‘Sandli’ water play park alongside the Trisanna river to the hamlet of Paznaun. Shortly after the Silvretta Bike Academy, the route turns off right. This route slightly above Ischgl offers beautiful views of the mountain village and then takes you back down into the valley towards Ischgl.

The Mathias Schmid trail covers 11 km in total and runs from Ischgl to Mathon and back. The total walking time is 3 hours. The shorter 5.5 km version runs above Ischgl along the Mathias Schmid trail towards the Mathon wildlife park.  The Kunstlehrpfad art trail includes numerous works to admire, created by Paznaun artists. The views of the Galtür Ballunspitze are also impressive. At the tunnel, swap onto the other side of the road and walk along the Trisanna river on a flat stretch back to Ischgl.
